ALL ABOUT US

The Michaela Afford Journey

Having yo-yo’d in size since childhood, I have been every size from a 10 to a 24 and my max weight was 20 stone. I have tried every fad diet, crazy scheme and piece of equipment available from QVC and infomercials and the only thing that worked and made me lose 8 stone and keep it off was normal healthy eating and exercise. Eating less and moving more!

I have been a participant of sports teams and exercise classes since I was at school, playing on the netball team, doing step aerobics and Zumba classes. But weight or rather body fat has always been an issue for me. This all changed in 2015 when I decided to make some positive changes to my life. I quit smoking and didn't want to put more weight on so I started doing a virtual cycling class at the gym, so I had a reason to not smoke again. This lead to a little bit of weight loss so I started to look at what I was eating. I made small changes and started to feel really good inside and about what I saw on the outside. Before I knew it, I had lost a couple of stone in weight and was buying a whole new wardrobe.

I was enjoying the cycling classes and had also been swimming but I wanted to tone up my body after the weight loss. I joined other classes at the gym and made some fab friends. They encouraged me to become a class instructor, which I thought would be a fun thing to do part-time. I did my Exercise to Music qualification in 2016, became a Les Mills instructor in 2017, training in Body Pump, Body Combat, Body Balance, Les Mills Core and Les Mills Sprint and a Freestyle Group Cycle Instructor in 2018. Since then, I have trained as a Yoga teacher, a Pilates teacher and a Personal Trainer in 2020.

I enjoy feeling fit and healthy and love to help other people on their path to wellness so that they can feel really good too.
